Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport - Plaine Magnien (Mauritius)
Avionics
Completion Date: 31 Dec 2023
In 2019, Teltech undertook a significant endeavor by submitting a competitive bid to facilitate the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of cutting-edge air navigation systems for the new Air Traffic Control Tower at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius. Amidst formidable global competition, we triumphed, securing the project in January 2020.
Scope of Security System Implementation:
The project's comprehensive scope encompassed the implementation of vital components such as an Airport Weather Observing System (AWOS), a state-of-the-art Digital Automated Terminal Information System (D-ATIS), a robust General Information System (GIS), upgraded consoles for the ATC Tower, a dynamic KVM Display solution, alongside backup radios, and various other critical elements.
Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS): The successful installation and commissioning of the Airport Weather Observing System (AWOS) stands as a pivotal achievement in enhancing aviation operations at the SSR International Airport in Mauritius. This sophisticated AWOS plays a critical role in providing real-time and accurate meteorological data, including crucial information on temperature, wind speed and direction, humidity and visibility. Its seamless integration within the airport infrastructure ensures that pilots, air traffic controllers and meteorological authorities have access to vital weather information, thereby enhancing safety, efficiency and decision-making in air traffic management and flight operations. This system includes ceilometers, forward scatter meter, transmissometer, temperature and humidity sensors, pressure sensors, windspeed sensors, luminance meter and equipment support masts as well as all the data processing servers and networks.
Digital Automatic Terminal Information System (D-ATIS): The installation and commissioning of the Digital Automated Terminal Information System (D-ATIS) has significantly improved pilot access to critical pre-landing information, including weather conditions and active runway details. This advanced system enhances aviation safety and facilitates smoother coordination between air traffic controllers and pilots during terminal operations. This system included servers, network racks and client workstations and integrations into the existing ATIS radio transceivers for broadcasting of the audio messages.
General Information System (GIS): The successful installation and commissioning of the General Information System (GIS) has streamlined data management and accessibility for airport operations. This comprehensive system facilitates efficient storage, retrieval and dissemination of key airport information and status monitoring of external interfaces for optimized decision-making processes. The system included servers, network racks, client workstations and various integrations into other airport systems such as NAVAIDS and AMHS.
Additional Equipment: The project scope encompassed the installation and commissioning of crucial additional equipment such as a KVM solution, ambient microphones, backup radios, obstruction lights, and a light gun, bolstering operational capabilities at the airport.
Successful Execution and Ongoing Support:
The successful completion of this project stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation in aviation infrastructure. Beyond the initial installation and commissioning, our ongoing support ensures the continuous seamless operation of these critical systems at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius.
We remain dedicated to providing steadfast support and maintenance, guaranteeing optimal functionality of the air navigation systems, ultimately contributing to the safety and efficiency of air traffic control operations for years to come.
