Civil aviation communications systems

Teltech’s team of highly skilled personnel has been installing communications equipment for the Directorate of Civil Aviation for more than 10 years.

The first project started in 2004 where the Spanish government donated aviation systems to Namibia. Teltech installed all the equipment ranging from voice switches, analog voice recorders, VHF relay sites, etc.

In 2013 Teltech started with the small tower project. This project involves upgrading four airports across Namibia with JOTRON communications equipment and VOIP telephone systems including Ricochet voice recorders.

Wireless Networking

Teltech is leader in the field of wireless networking and microwave backhauling. Having installed numerous microwave links for various customers and remote site monitoring enables us to build on previous experience and provide the best solution for any wireless need.

Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA)

As from 2007 Teltech installed a Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) System for the Namibian Government in Windhoek and various other towns within Namibia. Seven sites cover the Windhoek area and the road to Hosea Kutako International Airport while five cover the northern parts of the country, including Oshakati, Omalala, Ondangwa, Eenhana and Outapi. Another four sites provide coverage to the western parts of Namibia, which are Walvis Bay, Langstrand, Swakopmund and the entire road up to Arandis. Three mobile units installed inside pick-up trucks provide the force with coverage at very remote areas. The system, together with the infrastructure supplied by ARTEVEA, consists of twenty three Base Transceiver Station (BTS) sites, more than 900 Sepura handheld portable radios, 90 Sepura mobile radios installed in vehicles, 25 mobile radios installed in motorcycles and a dispatcher PC. This is an on-going project and the ultimate plan is to cover the whole of Namibia in the years to come.
